Da`wah in the light of Sunnah

Q 2: Is it permissible to invite people to the way of Allah (Exalted be He) beginning by showing them a prohibited matter before teaching them the sound `Aqidah (creed) knowing that there are some people who seek help from other than Allah (Exalted be He), keep visiting the shrines of pious people, and commit Bid`ah (innovation in religion) and superstitions? Could you kindly advise us. What is the Prophet's Sunnah (peace be upon him) regarding the call to the way of Allah (Exalted be He)?

A: Calling to the way of Allah (may He be Praised and Glorified) is permissible in the light of the Prophet's instructions to Mu`adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) when he sent him to Yemen. He said: You will go to some people of the Book, so let the first thing to call them to be the testimony of "there is no god but Allah". If they obey you, let them know that Allah (Exalted be He) has ordained on them five daily Salah (prayers). If they obey you, let them know that Allah (Exalted be He) has ordained on them Zakah which is taken from their rich and given to their (Muslim) poor. (Part No. 12; Page No. 237) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
